Doctor Michael Reynolds has been appointed to the Membership Group as the club’s first ‘Accessibility Ambassador’. Mike will guide and direct the club through this developmental change and assist the Board in becoming more inclusive,
In February 2019 ‘ACCESS FOR ALL UK’ was invited by the Board of the time and commissioned by Marketing Peak District and Derbyshire to undertake an Accessibility Audit of Cavendish Golf Club.
The Audit identified levels of accessibility at the club for members and visitors with a range of access needs. Various improvements were recommended with some considered to be ‘quick wins’ as well as others being medium and longer term accessibility improvements.
The current Board (October 2020) has revisited this Audit and seeks to implement the key recommendations. It has agreed that these initial actions are only part of our journey to become a more inclusive and accessible golf club.
The recommendations are to be embraced whole heartedly and not merely become a tick box exercise. Most of all, the Board need to consider how access for all becomes a core value of Cavendish Golf Club and all of its members.
Updates on progress and implementation of the action plan will be drawn by our Accessibility Ambassador and reported through the Membership Group to the Board each quarter.
