The calendar highlight for the Lady Captain is always the Lady Captain’s Day with lots of dressing up and jollity.
Lady Captain Wendy has shown her imagination and sense of fun with all the events she has organised this year and expectations were high for something special for this event.
The word went out that the theme was to be the French Olympic Games.
Well the Ladies at the club certainly entered into the spirit of LC Day with gusto, but there were more French fillies represented than any other country – red berets and stripy tops galore!
It was also lovely to welcome a number of the lady golfers from the Buxton & High Peak Golf Club, who were invited to the event.
The day started with a French breakfast of croissant and coffee before the ladies were started off on the 1st Tee by Past Captain, Robert Le Clark and Captain, Steve La Cloche.
(The picture shows Bob pointing the way home to Calais!)
At the Half Way House they were welcomed by Wendy and her family, to share vol-u-vents, quiche, egg muffins and macaroons, all washed down with a little vin rose (for those who didn’t care about the scores!)
Even Warwick the Cavendish Greens Supremo, showed off his newly grown moustache!
‘Mange tout, mange tout, he haw he haw’
After the competition the evening event started with champagne cocktails and canapés followed by an amazingly delicious three course French meal, cooked by our resident Italian Chef Ricardo.
