On Friday 17 November the clubhouse was full to bursting with family, friends and members to say farewell to Bob, Pam and Alex and to welcome Steve, Wendy and Harry.
Speeches started with Alex who had been Junior Captain for two years. Alex introduced Harry the new 2024 Junior Captain, who expressed he was honoured to take over from Alex and was really looking forward to his year.
Lady Captain Pam gave a brief synopsis of her year and thanked the Cavendish ladies for their generous donations to the Buxton Refuge.
Wendy’s chosen charities are Blood Cancer and she will also continue the support for Buxton Ladies Refuge.
Bob followed saying he had thoroughly enjoyed his year despite lots of verbal banter from the men; however he got his own back during his weekend away when he fined all the men for any misdemeanour!
Bob then introduced Steve as the new 2024 Cavendish Captain.
Steve had not written any formal speech, but left everyone in no doubt that he was looking forward to his year with Wendy at his side, particularly as she was such good organiser.
After a Special pizza meal the evening concluded with a quiz.
Finally it was announced that thanks to the generosity of the members providing prizes, the bottle raffle had raised £300 towards the children’s Christmas party.
Bob, Pam, and Alex wish all the very best to Steve, Wendy, and Harry for their 2024 year at this wonderful club.
