On Sunday 20th July the Cavendish Mixed Team of The Captains, Frances Reynolds & Jeff Haddon, Pam Brindley & Ben Cross, Louise Mardapittas & Mike Oakes, Chris Campbell & Neil Bolton, Sue Anderson & Matt Kirk and Alison Scattergood & Stephen Whalley reached the quarter finals of the Prestigious Manchester & District Golf Associations Archie Preston knockout competition for the first time in over 15 years by overcoming a very strong team from Mellor by 4 matches to 3.
The first couple of matches just about stayed dry, but as the thunder echoed in the distance and the skies darkened, Cavendish found themselves behind by 3 matches to 1. The final 3 matches played through a really heavy period of rain with all 3 being won by the home team, the final match, with Cavendish being represented by Alison & Steve being won on the 19th hole !!!

Unfortunately, earlier in the month, the Dunham Forest Team narrowly lost their last 16 match away at Bolton GC, and the Taskers Team also lost their last 16 match away at Branston. Thanks to all who represented the club in those Competitions.
