Danielle Banks (Lady Captain) report:
Lady Captains Day 2021 started with the weather. It was perfect. Sunny and warm. A fabulous send off on the first tee with Mr Captain and former Mr Captain Stuart Robinson.
The course was played the MacKenzie way round with strawberries and cream and Pimms ( apparently the Pimms ruined a few cards 🤣) at the halfway house. There was a putting competition after golf was finished and drinks on the terrace before a lovely meal in the dining room. Some ladies who couldn’t play came and had a drink on the terrace and some came just for the meal. It was so nice to see them.
Then came the prize giving with a lot of good scores. It was a close competition but the results were as follows:
Frances Reynolds 1st place
Anna Major. 2nd place
Anne Peacock 3rd place
Wendy Salthouse. 9 hole competition
Andie Curtis. Putting Competition
And there was more to come…………
As many went home I got out my guitar and those who were left tolerated me singing a few songs. Actually we had some great harmonies and even some of the men were joining in. Some of our ladies were twisting and turning to the song Golf Twist that I wrote last year for our Golf England entry #whyigolf. I have a video if anyone wants to have a look 😂.
It was for me a fantastic way to end a lovely day.
The best bit of the day was that everyone was so, so generous with donations for Lady Captain Charity – Blythe House. We raised just over £200 which is simply amazing. It is such a good cause and I am so amazed at everyone’s incredible donations. Thank you everyone
