They say ‘You never get a second chance to make a first impression” and that’s why its so important to present all areas of the Cavendish Golf Course to it’s spectacular best.
The many flower beds and display areas always help to reinforce the beauty of the course and a new initiative has just been launched whereby specific borders and key areas are now ‘adopted’ by Cavendish Members working in teams. Please see below the summary from Lady Captain, Wendy.
The course holds a unique place in golfing history and is famed as being the most authentic Alister MacKenzie designed course in the world – Cavendish remains largely unaltered in nearly 100 years whereas others including Augusta National have been extensively modified over the years,
It’s vitally important to impress all our visitors as well as to give pleasure to the all important Cavendish members and their friends and family. In essence we recognise the importance of looking after our existing customers as well as our visiting customers.
Volunteering plays a crucial role in supporting the running of members’ golf clubs and Cavendish is no exception with so much work being done by willing volunteers who simply love their home course.
There are still a few areas requiring some additional volunteers and please contact Lady captain if you are able to offer a small amount of time to help with this important initiative.
Lady Captain Summary
Flower Beds Adopted
I am delighted to inform you that most of the Flower Beds have now been adopted by the following lovely members.
- Below the Terrace from the steps – Fiona & Neil Flynn and Frances Reynolds
- Side of the Club House to the Terrace steps – Shelley & Jonathan Reynolds and Nisey Eassom
- Putting Green – Wendy Goldstraw
- Rockery on the right of Car Park entrance – Sarah Ingleby & Heather Haddon
It has been agreed that the Pro-shop team (Lee, Liam & Jevon) would maintain the border & area around the Shoe Cleaner (Air Compressor), and also the areas around the Pro-shop & border, the Swing Room and the Swing Nets.
It was also agreed that the Car Park including its grass border, the centre border and the parking area in general, would be maintained by Warwick & his Grounds Team.
We still have the Watford Road Entrance Rockery looking for an owner, so if you’re interested in adopting it, please give me a call.
Just a reminder of what Adoption entails on a monthly basis doing some weeding, removing & replacing dead plants, cutting back shrubs and generally keeping them looking lovely all year round.
We will always appreciate anyone volunteering to help us either in the weeding, planting, sweeping or buying the occasional plant. Any help you feel you can give would be great.
Many thanks to everyone who has volunteered and already helped to tidy them up, they are looking beautiful and it really is, so very much appreciated. Thank you again!
