This year LC Andie chose the theme of ‘Bee Happy, Bee Kind’ for her Captain’s Day and asked the Cavendish ladies to dress up in black, yellow, stripes or even as bees! They did not disappoint!
The sun shone and 30 women played golf in an individual stableford for the coveted Lady Captain’s Trophy. The competition was played MacKenzie way round which meant the halfway house was set up at the back of the 17th green. Savoury treats and bee printed shortbread served with strawberries and cream were on offer, all washed down with Pimm and lemonade. LC Andie’s mum Judy and sister Karen were on hand to help throughout the day.
After the golf was finished, the ladies freshened up and met back at the clubhouse for bee themed cocktails and canapés, all crafted by Karen. The sun was still shining so everyone gathered on the balcony until dinner was served. Another bee themed offering, honey and mustard dishes and honeycomb desserts were served by the amazing clubhouse catering team.
Once everyone was fed, the serious business of the prize giving got underway. With lots of prizes on offer from nearest the pins, best combined par 3s, straightest drive and putting competition, the final prize winners were announced.
Best in handicap 33-54 went to Clare McGarey
Best in handicap 0-33 went to Chris Campbell
And the winner of the overall day and the Lady Captains Trophy was Fiona Flynn.
Thank you to all the Ladies of Cavendish for making my special day so wonderful with memories which will last a lifetime and to my mum and sister for all their support. I couldn’t have done it without them.
