Cavendish Golf Club in Buxton, Derbyshire was the last full course built by Dr Alister MacKenzie in England before he relocated to California in the mid-1920s. Commissioned by the Duke of Devonshire, MacKenzie designed a course of subtlety and finesse over rumbustious moorland terrain. Examples of MacKenzie’s genius are much in evidence at Cavendish, the course being largely unchanged in the intervening 95 years.
With ample parking, the clubhouse is a popular venue for private functions particularly wedding receptions and funerals. Our dining room and board room also offer ideal spaces for small business conferences. Please contact us for details.
The Cavendish Clubhouse offers many amenities including a well-stocked licensed bar and a well-appointed and comfortable lounge with spectacular views over the course from the terrace area. The terrace provides an idyllic haven to relax with a drink after a game and to soak in the scenery.
We have excellent catering arrangements and can provide meals from traditional club fare to formal dinner events. Just off the main lounge, we have a separate dining room that can seat 50 comfortably and also a well-appointed members spike bar. The Club has a reputation for being relaxed and friendly, with regular social events for members arranged throughout the year. Members prefer informality as the rule and so smart casual dress is quite acceptable throughout the club.
Our excellent hospitality services are provided by Cavendish Views.
