I am delighted to have been chosen as Cavendish Golf Club’s Captain for 2020.

As a life long Buxtonian my love for the game and Cavendish began a many years ago and I have been lucky enough to have been a Cavendish member now for 47 years.

I started as a 9 year old came through the Cavendish Junior programme and ultimately achieved scratch handicap at 17. I represented both Derbyshire and England Youths in the early 80’s and went on to win many Derbyshire, National and International amateur events.

In that time Cavendish has remained virtually unchanged and we can honestly say it is probably to this day, one of the most authentic MacKenzie designed courses in the world. At only 5700 yards and a par of 68 “this is no push over” especially when the wind blows and in every direction.

With fast undulating greens and crazy borrows you will understand why it is compared to Augusta. The greens are the course’s defence which test the skill and patience of ALL golfing abilities!

If you are planning to visit either as an individual or looking to organise a society away day, you are sure to receive a warm welcome from our Golf Reception and once you have finished your round of golf, you will equally receive a warm welcome in the Clubhouse where you will be wined and dined. One of the highlights of the Clubhouse is to take in the stunning vista of the course from the veranda and watch the sun go down over it and the surrounding countryside.

Buxton is a beautiful old Market Town unspoilt with lots to do and plenty of places to eat and drink, so why not come for the weekend and spend time visiting Cavendish and the Town in the beautiful Peak District.

Come and play Cavendish you will not be disappointed.
