It is a great honour and privilege to become Captain of Cavendish Golf Club, a club I have had an association with for nearly 50 years.
You can never get tired of playing Cavendish. All the holes have different challenges and will test all of your golfing skills whatever your handicap. The ‘Mackenzie’ greens are particularly challenging to say the least and are maintained to a superb standard by our dedicated Greens staff. I often relate to visitors an occasion in the past where on the 15th green ( short par 3 – 116yds) a member won nearest the pin but walked off with a five(reminiscent of 16th Par 3 at Augusta National). Also the superb vistas and wildlife on the course in the quiet countryside on the outskirts of Buxton are a joy to behold.
Whether you are a small group or a large society, please come and enjoy a superb golfing experience from start to finish where Rachel will provide a friendly greeting at our Golf reception. From there the course beckons and on your return to the Clubhouse the excellent hospitality provided by Steve and Stacey will complete your day.
Our membership is very friendly with regular morning and afternoon roll ups every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. New members are always welcome and I would personally enjoy a game with you to introduce you to our course and clubhouse. Anyone who wishes to start playing the game can receive lessons from our resident golf professional, Simon Townsend.
Golf is a game which can be enjoyed by many people – young and old, men, women and families. All are welcome at Cavendish. Our Club Ambassador, George Bloor, represents Derbyshire A Team and is now in the England Squad. George learnt his game as a junior at Cavendish and is now playing at the top of the game. George is a credit to the club and we are proud to have him as our Ambassador.
Thank you for taking the time to read my welcome message and I hope that I will have the pleasure of meeting you on the Course or in the Clubhouse or both.
My final message is “Have fun and enjoy.”
