Cavendish Golf Club progressed to the next round in 2 of the Manchester & District Golf Association Knockout Competitions on successive Sundays.
On Sunday 16 March, 7 Cavendish players travelled to Romiley GC to play in the Dunham Forest Match. Romiley fielded a very strong side with their 7 team handicaps ranging from Scratch to only 1.9 !The Cavendish team, lead by Liam Hancock and on this occasion supported by Chris Unsworth, Aaron Woodward, Neil Booth, Lee Oakes, Neil Flynn and Mr Captain managed to emerge victorious by 5.5 to 1.5 – well played all.
On Sunday 23rd March, 14 Cavendish players travelled to Eaton GC to play in the Archie Preston Mixed Foursomes Match. In a very friendly atmosphere the Cavendish team on this occasion of Fiona & Neil Flynn, Frances Reynolds & Aaron Woodward, Liz Brammeld & Mike Oakes, Wendy Goldstraw & Neil Bolton, Andie Curtis & Jeff Haddon, Rachel Child & Richard Graham together with the Cavendish Club Captains managed to win by 5 matches to 2 – a second fantastic away win, again thanks to all and well played.
Cavendish Golf Club received byes in the other 2MDGA Knockout events, the City Glass Foursomes and the Seniors Cup.
We await the draw on Monday 7th April to see who we face in all 4 events.
