Cavendish Golf Club Lady Captain’s Day took place on Thursday 20th August 2020 amongst glorious sunshine and blue skies.

Twenty-four Cavendish ladies dressed up in red white and blue in support of the British ladies playing in the AIG Open at Troon. They started the day with a hearty breakfast, then teed off to 9 or 18 holes, playing the course in the layout as it was originally designed by Alister MacKenzie.

Lady Captain, Fiona Wylie, provided delicious scones and Pimms at the halfway house on the 7th tee. The course was in fantastic condition. Thanks to Warwick, his greenkeeping team and the many volunteers who put in so much time and effort.

The afternoon continued with a fun 9 hole putting competition and drinks on the terrace. We were treated to pre-dinner cocktails served by James Bond wannabes, Mr Captain, Mike Higgins, and Mr Vice Captain, Neil Flynn. So lovely to relax in the sunshine! Thanks to Paul, Matt and the catering team for all their hard work. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they helped the day run extra smoothly.

The prize presentation followed dinner and there were some worthy winners:

Maxine Chuwen – 1st Prize and Trophy winner – 37 points

Linda Green – 2nd Prize – 36 points

Anne Peacock- 3rd prize – 34 points

Hilary Knott – winner – 9 hole competition

Danielle Banks – winner – putting competition

Lady Captain, Fiona, would like to thank everyone for their help and support on the day. The beautiful cards, gifts and generous charity donations were very thoughtful and much appreciated.
