Emily completes first golf competition

Derbyshire Ladies County Golf Association organised a girls summer meeting to encourage girls under 18 years old to get into golf. Competitions were held at Ashbourne Golf Club for those with and without handicaps, plus putting and skills competitions for everyone.

So on Sunday, Emily Rowland (12), her mum Alison & I took a trip to see what was on offer.

This was a great event with 20 girls from around Derbyshire aged 7 – 16 years old taking part in either 9 or 18 hole competitions with support from other parents and helpers who encouraged the adults as well as the girls to get involved and enjoy playing golf.

Emily had a great day and completed her first ever 9 hole competition and next year we hope that more girls from Cavendish will take part in these events.
Thanks to Sally Benn, County Junior Organiser for being so supportive and making us feel very
welcome.

Best Wishes
Lady Captain, Chris
