It’s a tough life, but someone has to do it!
Cavendish Member and qualified golf referee, Alan Jones, shares his year living in ‘sunny’ Buxton and ‘reasonable weather’ Mauritius. I’m sure Alan has been very envious of the brilliant weather we have enjoyed of late in Buxton, although it’s fair to say, we’ve hit a less than perfect patch this week!
Alan has just sent greeting to Cavendish Members with news that the Mauritius weather has been very warm, humid and settled; AND thankfully they have been spared any major cyclone so far this season – which lasts until the end of April.
Alan delivered a really interesting new-rules presentation for Members before he left in December and he is now very busy delivering lectures to most of the Mauritius golf clubs together with rules quizzes.
The main picture was taken at the Paradis Golf Course last week when the expats played their monthly competition. Alan says it’s probably the most scenically located course on the island, right next to the south-west lagoon, but the temperature had climbed to 35 deg C by mid-morning and the humidity was above 95% – sometimes you can have too much of a good thing!
We look forward to Alan’s return to Buxton in the Spring.
