Ladies closer to certificates

A group of Cavendish ladies organised a small visiting party on Sunday and Monday, to emulate the Captain’s Away Weekend and tick-off two more Cavendish MacKenzie Trail courses. just a few miles from each other.

The main photo shows assistant pro Adam at Sutton Coldfield GC and the next photo shows the ladies at Walsall GC. Both clubs could not have been more welcoming to the ‘Intrepid MacKenzie Trailers’ and the organisation by each club was seamless. The breakfast at Walsall was particularly notable

The ladies have participated in most of the organised mixed MacKenzie Away Days at Nelson GC, Bramall Park GC and Hazel Grove GC and so had a good start with their personal ‘Trails’, but were behind many of the men who attended the Captain’s Away Weekend.
Not so now … the ladies could be the next to get their certificates for completing all nine courses – most just need to play Sitwell Park GC and Bolton Old Links GC and they will have done it. Only two certificates have so far been issued, but many are well on the way to completion.

The ladies had a great time playing both courses and meeting staff and members from fellow MacKenzie Trail clubs.

They had great fun, they thoroughly enjoyed the courses and saw some great wildlife in historic Sutton Park – the cows near the 18th were a bonus!!

A very special inaugurall prize was awarded for the best scores over the two days. The first winner was Fiona Heathcote and she will keep hold of this great trophy (courtesy of Past Lady Captain Julie Andrews) until the next organised MacKenzie Away event.

Great photos from the two days – good luck with completing the ‘Trail’ during 2017.
